Re: 91/30 accuracy expectations
You can try different ammo as well. The surplus (Czech?) ammo used to shoot pretty well out of the Mosins when some commercial ammo didn't. Try several brands to see what your rifle prefers.

Re: personal favorite it your collection?
Tough call, probably 95% of my firearms are my favorite and I have an emotional attachment to. I might be able to pare it down to just ONE rifle of each model but even that would be hard. Last year I sold off several 91/30's and an M44 to thin out the collection. If I had to sell it all off I would ...

Re: Blonde M91?
I don't think the finish is that hard to remove if shellac'd, but being Finn there is no telling what type of finish it had. But, I bet oven cleaner would take off a pine tar finish. [/img] There is no such thing in existence as "pine tar finish". Finnish rifles were never finished with p...

Thats what it looks like to me, you can still see color in the finger grooves and end grain. The rifle is a couple ho...

I don't think they would have swapped stocks or refurbed it during the war. I would put my money on a post-war refit.

Re: Bought a 1939 m38 for 340 shipped, how did I do?
Thats a great find. First year of production, harder to find. It was refurbed later and set in that M44 stock, but is sure does look pretty! I had one slip through my fingers several years ago, the memory still causes pain. Let us know how it shoots.

Blonde M91?
I saw a Finned M91 online. Remington barrel with Finn spliced stock and Finn bits like hangars and sights. But...it is counterbored and in a blonde/yellow stock. It looks like it was stripped, can't tell from the pics. Did the Finns put out any M91's in a stock like that?

Interesting repair. I see that and see the Finn splice and wonder which is stronger seeing how similar they are.

Re: ex-sniper
A few PU have come over without plugged holes, but a PEM would be quite rare to have survived and then been mixed up with them. I don't think PEM were sent to satellite countries either.

Re: ex-sniper
I agree. It seems that re-snipering an ex-sniper was all the rage a few years ago when I took a break from collecting. While I think the allure of putting together a "sniper" sounds cool, the truth is that it will never be a legit sniper again. I'm keepi g my "ex" as is, a curiou...

Thats a nice looking rifle you have there. Can you see any slash/box markings? I really need to look at the pictures from a laptop and not my iPhone. :/

Re: Yet another 91/59
Since the barrel was cut down by the Russians, all the new rifling tends to produce a nice shooting rifle. Enjoy it and let us know how it shoots. She's a beaut.

I never wanted to believe it, but its true. They shoot better as designed, with fixed bayonets.
