Re: Searching for Hunting Rifles
I didn't like the website. It has a phony, here-to-hack-you, illegitimate feel to it.

Herters G1 "Perfect Style"
I don't know about Perfect Style, but they could have called it Nifty Stock easily enough. Picked this up a while back, it shoots well enough with the occasional jam where the spent shell gets in the way. http://i1381.photobucket.com/albums/ah226/SKhiSm59-66/IMG_3703_zpsimftr2am.jpg http://i1381.pho...

Those sabbaticals can be tough to get through, especially the extended ones
Your 59/66 is real nice, you did good when you fell off the wagon.

Re: Holy Grail Found! 1949 matching Russian.
Interesting, I sold a '49 Tula on GB for my co-worker at the gun shop about 6 months ago. Holy Cow !! I've really gotta try to get by there and see you guys more often. Did it have a blued spike bayo ? There are some other features and I can't recall what they all are. I think a hole in the top cov...

Re: 1972 Romanian M1969 Trainer
I've had the same problem with a bore snake, you can pull that bunching out of it, or have somebody hold a little tension on the back end as you pull it in and if you have a little lube on it, it will go. There's been several times I found myself wondering if I was going to get that snake pulled thr...
Re: Yugo's
Welcome to the RMNF boards wacman, and congratulations on your buys, especially the long barrel, to me it doesn't get any better than that.

Re: Yugo Ceremonial SKS from AIM
It's a 709 serial number, but thanks for the link. I know next to nothing about these so every bit helps. Here's a link to the raw data Withergyld generated the table from, I like it better than the table, there's some other goodies there. http://web.archive.org/web/20071105194148/http:/...
Re: Yugo's
My Dad had one for a while. He was on the husky side, and watching him get in it, looked like a cross between climbing into a car and pulling on a sweater that has a steering wheel.

Re: An H & R Leatherneck Model 165
I've had the rifle for a while and I may not be able to buy again possibly for as long as until about this time next year :b sad: because of another project (vacation spot/bugout) but as soon as I can get back in I'd like to get one of the 40-something Mossberg bolt action. I also found when shoppin...

Re: An H & R Leatherneck Model 165
Thanks guys. I'm fairly certain they were built as Garand trainers, there's a couple of pretty extensive threads and write-ups on Reising available but I didn't post the links because I have trouble remembering from one board to another what's allowed. I failed to mention the 65's were parked while ...

An H & R Leatherneck Model 165
A friend turned me on to the H & R Reising Model 65 a while back, many of them were USMC trainers for the Garand and after the war production transitioned to the Model 165 Leatherneck and later still to the Model 150. After trolling for a 65 for some time I found that the ones I could best affor...

Re: unissued Yugo SKS
How cool is this crate! I own the first one from this crate. It's currently disassembled and cleaned from all the cosmoline and waiting for me to decide on the stock treatment. Leaning towards Tung Oil and trying to figure out who's to use. Just stumbled across this picture at work today and the nu...

Re: unissued Yugo SKS
Outstanding ! It was the "S" block that they made one of the few changes they ever did, they changed the gas ring from squared to tapered and with "S" you may find either. I see in this case it's tapered, and the logbook still has the original build date in it which indicates it ...

Re: unissued Yugo SKS
Just a note for you guys having to wait to buy one. I don't know about Classic but SOG bought an obscene number of these. Indeed, and I would add to that, you might have some expectation of something along these lines.. http://i1381.photobucket.com/albums/ah226/SKhiSm59-66/IMG_0906_zpsehy5eds9.jpg ...

Re: unissued Yugo SKS
My first SKS was an unissued Yugo from SOG. The trigger was really gritty and there were machining scraps in the bolt and receiver. When I saw this, it made me wonder if your rifle was an InterOrdnance import, because I have read in a number of places that some of their Yugo's had basically disgrac...
