Re: Classic just dropped the bomb.
Sneak is bullshit, the Finns didn't sneak anything, there was no reason to hide the making of some M39's in the 1960's when they were already producing their AK47 variant. It's just a story made up by dealers to explain the lack of a date on some rifles and make them sound more expensive. The Sovie...

Re: Classic just dropped the bomb.
IMHO, if you see something in milsurp you want to buy and you can afford and it has a fair price, get it. They are in limited supply by definition. It is easy to keep saying "I refuse to spend $1000 on a G43 or a Garand because in my time I could buy one at the drugstore for a fiver." That...

Re: SVT 40 barrel thread
Right you are: M24x1.5
Going on a tangent, I am curious why the communists decision to use metric made you prefer SAE.

SVT 40 barrel thread
What is the thread diameter and pitch for the SVT 40 barrel? And, is it metric/SAE/Whitworth?
According to http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinSpec.htm, the Mosin uses 0.975" x16TPI, which makes me think it is really not SAE since it is 55 degrees (Whitworth), not 60. What about the SVT?

Re: Cleaning barrel frustration (T53)
First, get that dam dog or cat hair off the bore! (about 7 o' clock....) That would be a cat. If she had her way she'd be helping me clean the firearms... Then get a good copper solvent, and use a .32/8mm phosphor bronze brush, or better yet same size stainless steel brush, and apply elbow gr...

Cleaning barrel frustration (T53)
So I saw a bit of what seems rust inside the barrel of my T53. I then grabbed my trusty brass brushes, bottle of hoppes 9, and rags, and proceed to rub the inside of the barrel for quite while... until brush was feeling rather loose. I then wet a rag with hoppes and ran inside the barrel; it was dar...

Re: Makarov 9mm Pistol
If you can settle for Makarov-shooting pistols, wideners still has PA63 and P83 for sale at pretty decent prices IMHO

Re: Poor poor baby
For $110 you get a factory rebuild/rebluing? And you are still thinking? :vconfused: It is not like this was the gun used to kill the last dodo on Earth or something like that, so no need to preserve its patina. I wish I could do that to my revolver but it would mean shipping it overseas, and you kn...

Re: ordered a P-64
The P64 is the first handgun I ever bought. At the time I was underwhelmed, but it really grew up on me. How much? Let's say I have a P08, P1 (P38 in alloy frame), 1911, Hi Power, P83, Mag 98, Tokarev, and so on, and the P64 is still my favourite. I did force myself to learn how to shoot it single h...

Re: .380 snap caps in a Makarov
Assuming your Makarov has a 9x18 barrel, I honestly cannot answer. I do have the proper 9x18 snap caps and use them with my P64. I also think a 9x19 one would work due to things I have done that should not be mentioned.
Of course, if your Makarov has the 9x1 barrel, the answer is easy ;)

Unfrosting frosty brarrel
So I received my T53 carbine last week. And then took it apart and did some cleaning/cosmoline removal (oven involved); probably there is still some left in the wood but at least my fingers do not sink on it anymore. The metal looks very nice and clean, not a spec of rust (cosmoline to the re...

Re: Finally have a Swiss Vetterli
That bayonet reminds me of the one in my Martini Henry. In it, you rotate that collar so the bayonet mount point (sight/whatever) can go past the collar and then you rotate it back, capturing it. See "Fixing Your Martini-Enfield Socket Bayonet" under http://www.martinihenry.com/bayonets.ht...
