It Was A Nice Day To Do Some Shooting
I built an outdoor range in my dads back yard about 6 years ago. My son and I took some firearms to shoot, including my MN. We went thru 100 rds. of Tula ammo. I need to get a rubber butt pad for the stock. That thing kicks like a mule on steroids. My son took pics but he hasn't sent them to me yet....

Re: Why So Many 1943 Mosins?
Yes, some attempts were made by whoever made the 91/59's to clean up some of the rough finished rifles, but otherwise with the exception of the reblue the Soviets just left them as is during the refurb post war. The thought of cleaning mine without harming the stamping, had entered my mind. But, I ...

Re: Why So Many 1943 Mosins?
My M91/30s are a 43 Izhevsk, along with a 42 and 39 Izhevsk, and a 39 Tula. As said the 43 Izhevsk has a rough finish, while the rest are nicely finished. Depends on what part of 1943 the rifle was made, some '43's can have a final finish as nice as post war rifles. When the rush was on they did aw...

Why So Many 1943 Mosins?
I do see all year makes of Mosin Nagants out there. But, I see a lot more 1943 MN's then any other year made. Why are/were there so many 1943 MN's manufactured then any other year? Or, is it just a coincidence because I own a 1943 MN?

Re: Sand and pine needles
What's the deal with the sand and pine needles? Back in the day (late 80's, early 90's) I remember coming across a couple of MN's that had sand and pine needles in them. That's when I would buy them from the SHOTGUN NEWS for $59.95 +, and just clean them up a little bit to sell. My gun buddy back th...

Re: M38 is back in shootable condition
I traded a guy for an M38 a while ago that had a badly damaged stock. The original stock was repaired but it was still pretty badly beat up. During the course of trying to find a stock, I found someone selling a crap ton of SKS parts including stocks. Among all that stuff was an M44 stock in wonder...

Scope Mount
PLEASE, don't beat me up TOO much for asking this Q? I'm not trying to "BUBBA" my MN. My cousin gave me 2 rifle scopes today. I would like to try them out on my MN to see how accurate it is with a scope. There are scope rings with each scope. What is needed to mount them to my MN? http://i...

Re: They're Back!
Back then the market was flooded with fake PU's, some at least looked similar to a real PU, others were made on hex receiver ex dragoons, or out of M91's, stupid crap like that. By the first decade of the 21st century we were up and running, I remember hardly a week went by when we didn't have to t...

Re: They're Back!
First snipers back in the early days went for $800 (about). RGUNS were the first ones to get a large quanity of them and they started around $700, but went to $800 pretty fast. If you bought that one for $150 [/b][/i], then it was from someone that did n't know what they had because they never went...

Re: They're Back!
YIKES! I thought I was doing a good thing by telling possible buyers there were MN's for sale. Should I just not say anything in the future? :kilgo: :chuckles: :chuckles: :chuckles: It's fine, we just get a kick out of people selling rifles for $300-$400 that we were paying $55 for just a handful o...

That is a nice rifle. For it being made in 1894, it looks absolutely fabulous! How does she shoot?
