Re: My first Mosin

WOW, Two years plus on the forums and you just bought one! Now that's what I call self control.

Very nice choice for you first Mosin......I started with the usual 1943 Izhevsk as lots of others have.

Re: 91/30 Snipers

Samco has the same molot snipers for 600 or 620 depending on condition. Well, I thought about it and read somewhere that they sell to walk-in customers. Figured that a lot of the good rifles may be gone if they do sell that way, not 100% sure. So since I bought off of Classic before and was very sa...

Re: CKO on Izhevsk M91/30

Two weeks ago Cabala's had one 1942 CKO out of 72 guns. I was wondering what it meant too. They also had two ex snipers, three Tula's and three Hex guns total. One was a 1930 but the stocks were so beat up I don't think the $169 was worth it for me.

Re: PU Sniper Rifle with Original Scope and Mount - 7.62x54R

Samco has them for $599 and hand select for $619. I paid for the hand select and got a numbers matching 1944 tula with a 1943 Krasnogorsk scope and the bore looks like new. Stock is a little rough but I couldn't be happier with my purchase. That may be the way to go. Your gun sounds like a very goo...

Re: PU Sniper Rifle with Original Scope and Mount - 7.62x54R

Been looking at buying one at a later date but the prices are going up a lot and the day will come soon where they are no longer imported. I may just may buy one from Classic even though they are Molots. Have to think about it as its a lot of money to spend without seeing or knowing what you will get.

Re: Mosin Stripper Clips

Out of the 16 I purchased on Ebay last month, 13 work great and 3 are garbage. I don't know why? Maybe cheap China clips thrown in on purpose with the good ones or is it hit or miss with originals? I don't see any difference compared with the working clips. Also, all are marked with a stamping which...

Re: good day at the range.....

Looks like good shooting to me! Like the pics of the range too. Personally I like the challenge of the open sites and if I hunted I would not use a scope on my MN. Last weekend I went to a 100 yard range to shoot my least favorite gun, a common 43 Izhevsk. Well, It shot great! I just wanted to hit t...

I like the video and I can't believe how quiet the gun sounds. Good shooting in the cold weather!

Re: Question about historical authenticity on swapping stock

Junk Yard Dog, I have no need for a "real" gun like a Savage with all the goodies, ect. I don't hunt like most of the gun owners I know and at 49 I don't think I'm going to start now. Just started into guns (1.5 Years) and I'm a collector at heart so I would be very happy to have a Sniper ...

Re: Question about historical authenticity on swapping stock

Just something to think about. If you save the money from the purchase of 2 refurbs, you can buy 1 better rifle. I know the temptation to buy quantity is always there, but in my collection I try more for quality. Well said...I just passed up a good deal on a 1942 Tula Ex-Sniper from a friend for $1...

Re: Thread for Matching Bayonets to Rifles (Sticky)

I think the idea is great but what happens is we have 25 pages of posts or 50? I believe that the first post needs to be edited with ALL the numbers listed in a basic order so that people would have a quick check list to look up. May need two columns with the ones Needed and the ones people Have. It...

Stripper Clip Info?

I want to buy some stripper clips so looking on ebay the originals are priced at about $6 a clip for originals. So a few questions. 1. How were the Russian troops issued clips? In ammo cans, cleaning kits or just passed out? 2. If they are in the ammo cans, I have two unopened pictured below. Would ...

Re: Don't be "that guy"

I don't know if I'll get the Big Orange or Red button expressing my opinion but if someone want's to mess with their gun, so be it! I have a friend that modified his Mosin stock and that's ok, but not for me. Another guy at work called them junk after I bought my first. I asked him why he thought so...

Re: Are LGS wise to the Mosins?

Thanks for all the interesting replies. Only a few of my LGS carry the MN and a few more may start soon. I'm hoping to be able to get a call when a order arrives and pay normal prices for better collectable guns. The one dealer looking to buy a crate was asking me questions on prices other dealers w...

Are LGS wise to the Mosins?

I'm new to the forums and MN in general but I wonder if I'm a little late for getting a nice Hex for the same price as a round receiver. I ask this question because I went to my LGS and they had about five Izhevsks with round receivers at $160 but one hex 35 Tula in fair shape for $175. I thought th...

Re: New Members, Make your first post here!

Hello All! Just want to say I'm looing forward reading and learning about the Mosin from this forum. It looks like a high quality forum and I will have questions to ask. I'm new to guns (1.5 years) and purchased my first rifle, a 1943 M91-30 a few weeks ago and things will never be the same again! T...
