Re: Romanian Tokarev TTC
Guys - can I get a reality check on current pricing? I've been eyeing a 7.62 x25 for a while. I'm in SoCal like 81turbota, and I see Turner's has them for $270 w accessories. Allan's Armory has the Yugo Zastava M57 for ~$200 no holster/clean rod. Might Capybara (or Longcolt44 or SA1911a1) know of a ...

Re: cz27 on the way
A few differences I note. Your grips, as are most, are cracked. Mine, thankfully, are not, but do not have the CZ logos. Not sure if it came that way or if they just wore off. I have the right side serial number where yours does not. Of course the holsters are different, and you have that nice marki...

Re: cz27 on the way
Nice-looking rig. I have one very similar. You can see my pictures in this forum on the next page in the topic titled "cz27".
I love the weapon. It's a great shooter, and is very accurate. Good luck, and enjoy it!

Re: 1934 Izhevsk w Light Handguard and Stock Cartouches
Thanks for all the great comments, Gentlemen. Sorry, I've been away from computers for a few days. I certainly do appreciate JYD, Bill and others looking out for the interests of the new Mosin owners. Your passion on this subject is clearly evident! This is at a Big 5. Their importer is CAI, Georgia...

Re: Got my recent 40 Tula purchase to the range today.
A caveat first: I have not yet fired my 91/30's. Mine act the same way. They cock on opening, open easily, then are hard to close the last little bit when a round is chambered. When opening bolt again to extract round, all is very smooth. So, bolt closes easily with no round, difficult to close with...

1934 Izhevsk w Light Handguard and Stock Cartouches
Interesting find. Very dark stock with much lighter handguard. The rear barrel band is a bit too fat to fit into the retainer spring. It slides down there but stops against the main stock while still partially covering the raised "pushy thingy" on the spring. I didn't want to try & for...

Re: 1933 Tula Hex Laminate @ my LGS
Thanks, guys. So, was I mistaken in calling it a pre-war stock? Junk Yard Dog mentions the post-WWII refurb. I am admittedly new at this, and thought that if the sling slots were all metal, that it was a pre-war stock. So, is a Laminate Hex necessarily worth $80 more than a round receiver, and $50 m...

1933 Tula Hex Laminate @ my LGS
This is at my LGS. Round Receivers are $150, Hex are $180, this Laminate is $230. Is it worth it? Neat stock with crossbolt. Some interesting marks along with the date/serial # stamp. Anyone know something about the other stampings/marks, or just more of the unknowns? Pre-war stock with complete met...

Great plan, Buckhead. Hopefully they will cherish the weapons and the time they spent with you. I know I did & I'm hoping for the same from my kids & grand kids. There's nothing better than telling stories of goin shooting with Dad or Grandad.

Home Defense Loads
Junk Yard Dog and others here have mentioned the legal sides of shooting someone in your house. Did you warn them, Castle doctrine, etc. Along those lines, a guy at my LGS says he loads his home defense shotgun with 00 Buck, but the last 2 loaded (first 2 out) are Birdshot. He says these are "w...

Re: Original Outers Gunslick Rifle Kit from '40s
Flea markets, huh? Great idea for a new source for these nostalgic items, JYD. I hope that doesn't mean I have to go flea-marketing with my mother-in law! Thanks for mentioning the bottles and patches, Dolk. Realized I hadn't photo'd them, so here's one. Note the original price tag of 57 cents for t...

Original Outers Gunslick Rifle Kit from '40s
Not sure if anyone here would remember this cleaning kit or not. My dad got it when he got his Remington 511 Scoremaster way back when. Glad I was able to hang onto the original Gunslick and Hoppes #9 bottles and boxes.

Dad's old Remington 511 Scoremaster
Thought I'd share pix of the first rifle I ever shot. Dad (USCG) and my big brother (USMC) taught me how to shoot from the prone position. I also learned firearms safety and cleaning. Dad gave the rifle to me a few years back, along with his original Outers cleaning kit in the red metal box. Dad als...
