Tim, the stock is spliced in two locations the one in the picture you mentioned and another at the upper front of the stock.

Both slots have the screw type sling inserts.

Bore looks good but I don't have anything to compare to.....yet.

Not counter bored. Rifling looks slightly less defined at the muzzle end bit still pretty strong. Got no ammo at home so I could not check with a bullet yet.
