Re: Not completely sure what to make of this.

Just talked to one of my acquaintances. He is grabbing all the money he can to buy up 20 cases of Wolf ammo. His bright idea: when "no more AK ammo is to be had" he will sell the ammo on Gunbroker for 75 bucks a box...

Re: Vietnam bringback w/capture paper, lots of pics

One source of 8mm Berthier rifles was during the Great War when an entire American division was armed with them. The 93rd Infantry division fought with the French and had French caliber arms, Remington made 1907/15 rifles. The next part is interesting because the Army denies this occurred. I was doi...

Re: Vietnam bringback w/capture paper, lots of pics

7.5x54mm is available. Prvi makes excellent FMJ. Graf makes a good hunting round. There is surplus but now days you mostly find it on Gunbroker at twice the price of new reloadable.

7.5x54 is also noted for being really easy to reload. Most reload tables allow for standard 308 bullets.

Re: 1917 mle st. etientte

The 5 round clips can work in the Forestry carbine, just load three rounds (they stick out the bottom). If you are refurbing the carbine anyway and are not worried about the history of the thing, some people will track down a 5 round magazine and trigger set and replace the 3 round installed with it...

Re: French 1916 Berthier Carbine

There are three classes of weapon props commonly used for movies - rentals from property firms, armorer provided weapons, and custom made weapons. Of those prop weapons come in several types and classes. Break away props are expendable - they are made from blown styrofoam (for example) and cannot hu...

Re: French 1916 Berthier Carbine

Welcome to the board, it's good to see people appreciating these little carbines at last, I took a lot of crap back in the day for going out of my way to pick these up, sometimes from owners who didn't even want money for them. Very light and handy, easy to carry, and with more than enough punch to...

Re: French 1916 Berthier Carbine

One aside for the owner of a m16 Berthier. They are hands down the best scout rifles ever made - unless you carry a cut-down MAS36 which is a near runner up in the rugged ugly bolt-action category. Remember though, if you are like me and you use it a lot single shot - do not press the bullet into th...

Re: French 1916 Berthier Carbine

Yeah it is harder to use guns on set than you might imagine. All of my movies use student actors and crew so safety is essential. When I read a script the armorer and I make a list of ever shot with a gun in it and first ask do we need it and then ask how we can be safe. In Disrupted Gears we had a ...

Re: French 1916 Berthier Carbine

gurn, I wish I could tell exact stuff, but I have an NDA to think on. Pure paranoia, but no one wants to have anything blabbed when funding is on the line. I can say that I am setting the Berthiers up for a post-modern, blank firing capable, heroic gun for rough screen use. It is safer to use a Bert...

Re: French 1916 Berthier Carbine

Hmm. I have never seen one that late. The maker is MAC. I will have to look but it could be a last year of the model. Also it is balle n marked. (opened up like the D mark for finland) :vcool: :vcool: MAC produced these weapons until 1938 - there simply was no other good, small weapon available tha...
