Re: Received a CMP Winchester Field Grade M1 Garand Today
Holy Crap! Beautiful looking, and a field grade??? One of the Service grades I got doesn't compare to that. She is a beauty. The CMP WRA FG I received this month is nicer than the CMP WRA SG I received last month. Their grading system is clearly not an exact science. I didn't get an uncut op-rod an...

Re: Springfield 1903
If you figure there were about 70 receiver bursts reported in about 1 million combined low-number rifles, you're looking at about 1 in ~15,000 that went BOOM! That's a higher risk than I'm willing to take, and keep in mind, "reported" is the operative word in the prior sentence, meaning th...

Re: Springfield 1903
There is no internet conspiracy on single heat treated receivers. There can be problems...........There is an increased risk from shooting a low number M1903, that is a fact. Agreed (and I'm usually the first person to go with, "because of lawyers" as an answer, but this is historical fac...

Re: Ammo back in USA
I will be carrying an American Express card...Don't leave home without it. Best response in the thread! I love the lunatic preppers who have 394,000 rounds of 10 different calibers, and enough equipment and food to fill six 18-wheelers (with double cargo containers). They've spent so much time &quo...

These have only become legal in New Jersey somewhat recently when Molot FINALLY (because I've been calling for this for years) offered one with a thumbhole stock that circumvents our liberal laws. Needless to say, I instantly purchased one when it became available.

Re: Hamburg PA Cabela's
I was at the Hamburg flagship about a month ago and there were 2 Mosins that were all-matching (not force-matched) even with the matching bayonet. I imagine they must have come from a collector who's moved on. Considered buying the nicer one (Tula) of the two even at $299, but the NICS line was an h...

Re: Gunbroker fraud turd alert.
I dont know anything about Mauser stampings, what was the original sin in this post? Is it an obvious fraud? I've learned quite a bit about M1 cartouches, and the same thing happens in the Garand game. Some of them are REALLY good, and you basically need a ruler, magnifying glass, stock photos, etc....

I have one of those and would love to get some 15 round mags, but $52/mag is painful.

Re: Will the price of MN's go back down
There isn't a single person in these forums that knows what is going to happen. Not one. It's not possible to know because that are way too many variables that effect the prices. ^ This is the correct answer. Personally, however, I do not believe prices can get much higher in the short-term for a v...

Re: CMP Mail order SG's available
I ordered another 3 SG before the shutoff and my order should be filled in the next few weeks. AFAIK, everything that's been sent out recently has been CMP wood mixmasters, so I'm not expecting to get anywhere near the quality of the 3 I pulled back in September, but hopefully I get some good parts ...

Re: KelTec Sub2000 9mm
Sponge was looking for input about the Sub-2000. I have the Glock version of the original model. Bought it used from a FL gun shop for $150. This was back when people ridiculed all things Kel-Tec and thought it was a piece of crap. I recognized it as unique, and I loved how packable it is and the f...

Re: CMP Mail order SG's available
Ordered 3 and did pretty well. 1) May 1943 with May 1943 barrel, correct lockbar sights and trigger guard, USGI wood (but postwar). 2) December 1944 with December 1944 barrel. USGI WWII wood (correct cartouche for 44'), correct trigger guard. 3) 5 digit 1940 SA (i.e. early post gas trap #) & USG...

Re: New to Military Surplus
The word, "favorite" will probably change the responses depending on what we're specifically talking about.
If by "favorite" we mean the 1 milsup that if we could only have one, and need to use it for modern usage (hunting, target shooting, defense, etc..)?
I'd go M1.

Re: I NEED GAS MONEY gauge sale!!
This topic got me wondering, how many have had rifles that did not pass the gauge test, and what did you have to have done to it? :?: I bought gauges a few years back and I bring them to gun shows and gun shops. I've never had a failure among the rifles I've tested, which is probably only about 30 ...

Re: Classic Firearms
While the golden age of milsup is over, I cant take such a draconian view of the future, as I learned in a former life that it's extremely difficult to predict the future. And it's about 10x harder when politics and geo-political issues are at play, as they are here. While we've seen doors recently ...

Most likely a serious SKS collector, (who's also well-heeled) who desperately wants one from each country.

Re: Classic Firearms
From what I've seen in numerous reviews, the $20 hand select seems like a waste of money. I've seen people who didn't pay the $20 get beautiful examples, and I've seen people who paid the $20 get stinkers. Keep in mind, it takes someone who has expertise and knowledge about M-Ns to know what's worth...
