I have a M39 that just the magazine looks like this. I would describe it as a grainy flat black.

Re: Blood Types

O- and CMV- here, that qualifies me as a baby donor and they use a quad bag to collect the donation in. 8 weeks after every donation they start sending emails reminding me to donate. I donate next week and that will put me 2 pints shy of 9 gallons. It gives you a good feeling knowing that you are he...

Re: Right place at the right time!

Late piping in and new to the forum. You certainly did great on that deal...being in the right place at the right time works. And, because of that theory I rarely go by my LGS without stopping in to see if they have anything new and exciting...I've scored a few great deals that way! Another good fi...

Re: Unissued, matching late 7th series Type 99 Arisaka

Nice, definitely looks like it never made it to the field. I have a 7th series transitional, still has the adjustable rear sight metal butt plate and the grooved safety knob matching and ground mum. Also picked up a 9th series Howa last Saturday for$150. It is matching with a unmolested mum. It was ...

Re: 303 British Bolt? NOT! [Pics Added]

Here are some more pics. Our first Grandchild was born about a month ago and I finally ditched the flip phone for one with a camera so forgive my photography skills while Iearn this thing and how to post. I have some interesting [to me at least] rifles I have acquired since joining the board in 2013...

Re: 303 British Bolt? NOT!

Nice catch, that's what an antique dealer gets for trying to be a gun dealer. An illegal one at that. I don't collect Arisakas but I have eight of them. They are a legal FFL. There was a sported type 99 setting in the rack next to it tagged as 7.7 Japanese priced at $349. Go figure. This is my 2nd ...

303 British Bolt? NOT!

I hope my pics load, this is my first time to try from my phone. I was making Pawn Shop rounds Saturday and stumbled on a Type 99 tagged as a British Bolt 303. Priced at $249 I wound up with it for $150 OTD. The Guys did not have a clue as to what is was. It is a 9th series Howa late war. The rifle ...

Re: Synthetic Stock

My first SKS came in a Ramline stock and I think it is one of the better looking synthetic stocks for the SKS. I do not think they are made anymore but do turn up occasionally on eBay. I picked up an original wood stock for it several years ago at a gun show but never swapped it over to it. It is a ...

Re: Polish M44 with paper in barrel

I've had a few Romanian import M91s with paper like that. No carbines though. Yeah and I know where they came from too. Many of Kevin Carneys M91's came with that twirl of paper from Century. They came from multiple places not Romania or Poland or any special country but from Century. So who did it...

Re: Polish M44 with paper in barrel

Nice, an FFL ( or anyone else selling any firearm) who doesn't check over a weapon before putting it out for sale. I don't know if that's laziness or stupidity, maybe both. He had these on consignment so I guess there would be two layers of stupidity. One can assume the original owner never shot it...

Doesn't look like any of the numbers match. Were all the numbers force matched on all the 91\59s? I would
have to dig mine out to be 100% sure but I think the numbers were ground and restamped.

Polish M44 with paper in barrel

Picked up a Polish M44 Saturday and found something I've never seen before. When I checked the bore I could tell there was some paper in it. The shop owner handed me a cleaning rod and I pushed out a strip of paper twisted into a spiral about 6 inches long. I thought it was very strange and the shop...

Re: Ex-Dragoon? Run of the mill Mosin? Something else?

Clean your site base real good and take another pic. I also have a 28 Tula that definitely does not have the gap under the rear site base. I have compared it to other 28 Tula's at gun shows and noticed the difference. According to info on 7.62x54r.net prototypes with M91\30 style rear sites were bui...
