The Russian Mosin Nagant Forum

Thank you all kindly for the help and advice with this! I plan to discuss with her after dinner, and we shall see how it goes.

I'n all seriousness, I do appreciate everyone taking the time to write down your thoughts and help me out.

Please guys! Help me out, I need so more ammo on this! Thanks!

OK guys ALL HNADS ON DECK! I've let her know that I've posted my dilemma on this message board..I told her that in my first post I was asking you guys how best to hide the fact that I've ordered the PU sniper without her knowing about it, and then I've filled her in on how you all have suggested hon...

Thanks of fall the insight guys, Concerning bills, we are always current so there's nothing in me buying the gun that would jepordize anything like that. We WOULD like to go ahead and pay one of our cars of (we only owe about 3k on one, the other is paid for) and she wants to update the kitchen, etc...

Beautifully put Vendetta! I'm certainly glad I posted my "freak out" on this thread...what great therapy. Sometimes, these Mosins can certainly make one behave in ways they normally wouldn't..it's strange!

I'l pull it together, and work on this tonight..

Thanks!

Great points WeldoHunter, In all fairness, she let me walk out of a store recently with one all matching numbers hex and an all matching 1926 ex dragoon. We had not planned to purchase anything that day, and I just happened upon them and she said go ahead and get them. As well, you're absolutely rig...

I agree completely as I have already had 2 thoughtful, non threatning conversations with her as to what these rifles are, and why I believe it is a good idea to purchase one now. I guess I've allowed my mind to fall into the "I certainly know I'm right about this, and in the long run, it's a be...

Hello Everyone, I hope you all don't judge me too critically and I'm just going to spit it out. I have the resources to go ahead and purchase one of the AIM or Classic PU Mosin snipers, but my fiancé says absolutely not right now. She simply doesn't understand what a great deal these are, and she th...

Yea! I already know Hickok45..I've seen several of his videos!

Yea..It upsets me that Eric messes around with the integrity of the milsurp rifles sometimes..So is Hickok45 a good Youtube resource for milsurp reviews, etc?

I'll check him out!

Thanks,

Thanks catcracker..Yes, I found the rifle intriguing….that's why I bought it! I have a subscription to Iraqveteran8888 (Eric is a big milsurp collector, and he showcases all kinds of old military rifles on his channel) on Youtube, and he showcased a Vetterli recently, and I thought wow…what a cool l...

Understood. Thanks as always Junk Yard Dog! I feel better about it now.

Hello Everyone…Need some qualified, honest feedback please. I have been eyeballing this particular SWISS Model 1869/71 Vetterli on Empire Arms website for a couple of weeks, and I pulled the trigger last night and ordered it. You can see the listing here..just scroll down about 16 gun listings http:...

You ever own a custom Kentucky long rifle? A lot more work goes into making one than a basic Mosin. Just tuning the lock required more man hours than Izhevsk spent building 15 Mosins. That is amazing that you mention the Kentucky long rifle!! I was just getting into bed, and I was going to Google t...

Although they approved the importation of the 91/30, M33, and M44, I'm actually surprised they approved the importation of the 7.62x54R ammo...Although the technology involved in the Mosins isn't much more advanced than what Davy Crockett used...

Below is the approved list from the VRA we have with Russia adopted in 1996....You can import these Russian firearms legally into the US..The 91/30, M38 and M44 are all on the approved list. The SVT 40 is not. ANNEX A Firearms Permitted to Be Imported into the United States from the Russian Federati...

You guys need to sit back and read this one......It will make your head spin....

Walked through everything with our aviation attorney today, and he was able to reach Michael Cooney at the FTA Import Branch..The 3 of us conferenced, and this deal is a non starter unfortunately..It goes back to the Voluntary Restraining Agreement that is still in effect with Russia..The SVT isn't ...

So the STV 40 is not an assault rifle..it is classified as a battle rifle not unlike the 91/30 The SVT 40 does have a detachable mag and a bayonet lug, but does not have any other "assault rifle" components...the muzzle brake is a muzzle brake, not a flash suppressor. Below list of WW2 era...

Thanks again for the details Old Outlaw! I promise we are not lost on the many difficult aspects of this potential deal...We are ignorant of quite a few details, but we're not lost on how to make cogs operate in tandem once we have a clear picture of the possibilities to receive the import approval ...
