Re: Possible counterfeit m44
The only thing I would say about the 1943 M44s is that given the numbers that have shown up here in the states the production numbers formerly given may have been low.

Re: 91 30 shank markings.
OP I have the same, a 1940 Tula with sniper proofs but doesn't seem to ever have been drilled, oddly mine has a high wall 1940 Tula receiver but no prefix on the serial number, does yours have a prefix?

Re: 1907 Carbine arrived
Wonder if it was used in the SCW, I know they had 1895 Winchesters and M91s, but were any 1907s shipped to Spain?

Enough of them have shown up here in the USA to cast doubt on the stated production number...

I am leaning towards SCW origin also. I have the same rifle but serial # 29442, like yours total mismatch and no import marks.

Re: Teachers on Summer Break
A couple of years ago at my private school, we had WW2 day where we could show and tell artifacts. Of course I brought in a couple of Mosins (minus bolts) and passed them around, the kids really enjoyed it.

Thanks, good to know, I got it at a LGS, it was one of only two left in the crate, must be not many Mosin experts around here.

Re: Trip to Cabelas in Wheeling, West Virginia
If the Molot rifle was abused, it must have been real recent abuse, those things haven't been imported until recently...

Tikka 91/30 is $250 and up depending on condition, the accuracy of the Tikka will really impress you.

Re: 44 Tula with scope numbers on barrel shank.
As a matter of fact 100% of Molot Tula snipers have them, prior to that they were really rare, and I have never heard of an ex-sniper Tula with a scope number.

I agree, a SCW 91/30, a little too late for a dragoon.

Saw this a week or so ago, the PU sniper rifle is the only Mosin I saw in the film and it hade a blade front sight and a Kornalov rear sight.

Re: Possible 91/30 SCW, opinions
SCW, anytime you see a 1936 or 1937 Mosin with a sanded stock and no import marks that is what your conclusion should be, never saw figures on how many were imported but it was in the thousands.
