Re: 1943 Tikka M91 - Double AZF
I saw a variation of the double "AZF" stamp, one on the receiver and one on the barrel, on a gun auction site last week. It was on a Russian Mosin-Nagant M91 made in 1899, which was a Finn capture. It had the Finn SA and 'D' marks, one piece Finn stock with hangers. The bolt and barrel ser...

Re: My First M91 is a Finnish Captured 1925 Tula!
I am not familiar with the term "5 line". I have heard the M91 being referred to as a "three line," which to my understanding means roughly 3/10's of an inch. Or is it something that is just specific to the Tula.shoto2758 wrote:Congrads,a 5 line Tula.

Re: M28 FrankenFinn
Very nice. I would have bought it in a second. I wish we had some Finnish MN's for sale in Nazi Jersey. Pretty much, my only source for them is GB and Pat Burns. I can't wait to leave this state.

Re: Vs: My Finnish Mosin M27
The rifle is from KKK/VR (Konekiväärikomppania/Viipurin Rykmentti=MG Company/Viipuri Regiment). Stationed in the now lost city of Viipuri at Huuhanmäki garrisons until 1940. I think that seriously adds even more value. Now it is pretty much unbeatable by anything. Sorry I didn't see your comment be...

Re: My Finnish Mosin M27
Upon inspection of your new photos, it looks like the disk reads: KKK/VR 149. I agree that KKK is Kone Kivääri Komppania, or machine gun company. The VR I am not sure of, however I do speak and read Finnish, so let me think on this for a while. If I have a revelation, I will post it.

Re: Question about M27 and F mark
As I recall, the F stands for Fägernas, the type of steel used in the manufacture of the barrel. The M27 is said to have a .3095" groove diameter bore. I am not sure if I would assume that the chamber is for the 53R cartridge. Only the casting of the chamber and subsequent measurement would rev...

Re: very very unusual Finnish 1891/24
My grandfather personally fought in the continuation war. Did he encounter this rifle in his service? We will never know. He was a Sergeant so likely carried a KP/31 "Suomi" submachinegun. Terveisiä Sven. I too am a Finn, Finland born, and immigrated to the US. I retired a few years back ...

Finnish Civil Guard Museum - Seinäjoki, Finland
For all of you Finnish MN fans, you are certainly familiar with the Civil Guard M-24 "Lotta" rifle and the M-28, M-28-30 and M-39 rifles. In our recent visit to Finland, my wife and I came upon the Civil Guard and Lotta Svärd Museum, which happens to be located across the street from my au...

Re: Larry Thorne
Recently finished reading the Cleverley book, Born a Soldier, The Times and Life of Larry Thorne, and it was excellent. I would highly recommend it. It is well documented, with source information, maps of various operations, a chronology, among other appendices. It almost seems like time travel, beg...

Re: Larry Thorne
The story of Larry Thorne (Lauri Törni) is remarkable. I first heard of him from my cousin who I was visiting in Finland for the first time in 43 years. He told me some of the story, and it was amazing. Thorne was an enlisted man in the Army when the Winter War broke out and fought; went to train wi...

Re: Delivery from Pat Burns...
I bought my first M39 from Pat Burns last summer. It is a 1941 VKT, and I only had one occasion to shoot it, but was happy with it. Since then, I bought a Finnish M91/24 Lotta with a Bohler-Stahler stepped barrel off the internet, with matching bolt and barrel. The receiver is an Izhevsk dated 1914....
