Re: Ugh rust
The rifle that is showing rust most likely has more old fowling in the barrel, and the primer salts are getting forced into the fowling. When the rifle is stored improperly in gun case or cover the moisture will create rust in the bore. Using water as described, normal clean up and proper storage sh...

Re: Ugh rust
As said before don't store in storage pouch, towels etc. Here on the east coast of Florida I use silicone treated rifle socks, clean and lube yearly and no rust on any of my firearms ever. I have used CLP and Eezox, both are good at rust prevention and the rifle socks help keep my rifles from being ...

Re: Ugh rust
I think storing in pouch is the problem, holding moisture from air. Wrapping in cloth or using a gun case for storage is a poor choice, silicone rifle bags work well and can be had for $6.00-$10.00 from many vendors. Store as Mosin #2 if nothing else. I would also suggest a flush of water down the b...

Re: 1934 m27
I think zeebill is pretty much right on with his thinking, tea or not. Per 7.62x54r net, the bore of all models of Russian mosins is .310. Finn bores .3095, except M39 .310, m28/30 .3082. I have an M27 F marked, meaning a slightly shorter chamber dimension, 7.62x53r, most are D marked, meaning the r...

Re: Problem Closing Bolt on Some Rounds
Great job! I think you have it licked, if not it will only require a little tweaking. I have several extractors on bolts that look just like that and function perfectly. You could always pull a bullet, dump the powder and see how she cycles. Cheers!

Re: Problem Closing Bolt on Some Rounds
I have had your issue before. Make sure there are no burrs on the inside of the ring of the bolt head face, also make sure the extractor is not bent to far toward the center of bolt head face. The back side of the extractor should be almost flus with outside ring of bolt head. If that doesn't work a...
