Stocked up on blanks, as well. Not crappy ones, either... stuff that should really launch that training grenade. [emoji41]

Re: AR15 Help

JP Enterprises makes a self contained buffer system that gets rid of the feedback inside the tube... they include a spacer to work in rifle length tubes, and it allows you to remove the buffer retainer. Expensive, though. If I remember correctly, JP puts out a kit to adjust the spring tension/buffer...

Re: S&W 1006

My 1006 is one of those guns I'm never selling... big fan of 10mm. https://i.imgur.com/z0acbyG.jpg https://i.imgur.com/FrVq9d5.jpg https://i.imgur.com/yH0IhCw.jpg I got stocked up on magazines for it back when I first picked it up. They were about $40-$50 back then. Now, if you find them... they are...

Re: What is YOUR favorite SKS?

Nice to see a post from almost five years ago... Wish I could get a training grenade and some blanks to mess around with, but haven't seen any. Funny thing is that I got a Serbian practice grenade, and a bunch of blanks, since then. http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc61/Screwball216/F7FA514C-B2DD-...

Re: Storing "too many" in the safe

I got mine pretty well stored in my two safes... My issue was bullpups. Even short guns like my Beretta CX4 or D/I AR45 were propped up to catch the RifleRods... but my 16" Tavor or KSG weren't doing it. In my Fatboy, Jr, I used to have some documents, weapon lights, NRA coins, checks, and a 10...

Re: Carcano

They are nice, just make sure you clean the bolt. If not, engaging the safety might turn the bolt handle.

Personally, I like the Type I version. Chambered in 6.5mm Japanese, using a regular magazine instead of enbloc clips.

Re: Hamburg PA Cabela's

Hamburg used to be a good store. Instead of having those four or so racks by the library... there used to be like three aisles of racks that you could pick from. I found my first Mosin Nagant there.. (M44, made in 1945). For guns, I think they get some unique stuff up there. But they really throttle...

The floor plate is 63523
The receiver date puts it in 1950, the floor plate, judging it is from a M48, would be 1951.

Is there a letter before the receiver number?

Yugo M48

Looks nice! Mine (M48A) was a private seller on S&W Forum. Got lucky, as 98% of the cosmoline was cleaned off prior to getting it in hand. Just had to take down the bolt and get it out of some harder to reach spots... but A LOT easier than my Yugo M59/66A1, which came from the distributor. That ...

I've been wanting an Auto-5 derivative for some time... but most I see either have cracked wood or those adjustable choke eye sores on the end.

Looks nice.

Re: Yugo Mausers

You like straight or turned bolts? Yugo Mausers, and actually their other military arms, are usually very nice. The way they were stored created some very nice surplus rifles. You may see one every so often that is subpar... but not normal. I have a M48A (Mauser), M59/66A1 (SKS with grenade launcher...

Re: .410 Enfield Conversions

I've heard people shooting .45 Colt out of .410 guns... not planning on it, unless I buy a gun designed to (and not buying a Judge/Governor). I have two guns chambered for it (Ruger New Vaquero and Uberti 1860 Henry reproduction), and the only two guns that I will load it into. If I end up with a co...

These will NOT I repeat NOT chamber or shoot normal .410 shotgun shells They will only shoot the 410 round ball musket ammunition made for them. SOG has it in stock. Yes and no... There were ones that were modified by Century when imported... bored out to commercial .410. The Musket loads should fi...

.410 Enfield Conversions

I got a Ishapore 2A1 a few months back, and really got interested in Enfield rifles. Now, I really don't want a .303 rifle, since I don't stock the caliber, and not a regular available round (don't reload yet, and not going to have space for another year or two). So, I found a few .410 conversions o...

Re: Cleaning vs restoration. Where is the line?

Any of those spray-on finishes will work... [emoji1] Kidding. I usually strip the gun down, get the Cosmoline off of the metal, then quickly take a heat gun to warm up the exterior of the wood to get the bigger stuff (Cosmoline globs in the barrel/action channel) off with a shop rag. Nothing extreme...

I got mine off GunBoards for $300, shipped. Same as you described, but 1943. Rough manufacturing, but looks and functions great.
