Re: Classic Black Friday Sale, Springfield 1903A3 .30-06 Rif

After doing a little research, this 03a3 of mine might NOT be an arsenal rebuild. It was sent to Raritan Arsenal for re-proofing, but from the looks of things, not rebuild. I suspect the trigger guard was replaced during the re-proofing, as the stamped 03a3 trigger guards tended to crack. That expla...

Re: Classic Black Friday Sale, Springfield 1903A3 .30-06 Rif

You can find the real deal cheaper. I picked up a Remington 03a3 for $625 a year or so ago. It's been arsenal refurbished, as have most of them you see, but it's still the real deal. Great price. Where'd you find that? There are a few small gun shops in my neck of the woods that have large selectio...

Re: K11 from AIM- Pictures inside

Sweet K11 Spax, love the darker stock, the one I picked up from Simpsons a while back had the lemon color stock. Help me out on the P stamp, I think it means it was sold or released to the soldier after his military service. BTW very nice pics  Yes, that's what the "P" stamp ind...

Just a heads up. Your magazine follower has been modified so that the bolt will close on an empty magazine. Not a big deal, but it's definitely not original.

Re: Mosin Nagants are NOT Ugly

I generally don't find the Soviet guns that attractive. That speaks nothing of function or history.....but I don't personally find them all that attractive. An M39, on the other hand, IS a good looking rifle. When it comes to milsurps, the sexiest one ever created in my opinion is the 1903 Springfie...

Re: Bore question

LOL, I have a 1926 Izhevsk with an absolute sewer pipe for a bore that shoots lights out. I ordered the gun from AIM several years ago, and when I got it I was appalled by the bore...........and then I shot it..........first at 50yd, and it shot great. Then out to 100yd. Again, shot great. Finally, ...

Re: Ugh rust

As said before don't store in storage pouch, towels etc. Here on the east coast of Florida I use silicone treated rifle socks, clean and lube yearly and no rust on any of my firearms ever. I have used CLP and Eezox, both are good at rust prevention and the rifle socks help keep my rifles from being...

I don't find any of them to have uncomfortable amounts of recoil standing. The No5, however, isn't particularly comfortable to shoot from the bench.

Re: Enfield #5's at AIM Surplus

I have had mine for 3 or 4 years and it is a fun gun to shoot if you have a stout shoulder. If you think an M38 or M44 has a muzzle flash a 5 will light up the night. The recoil seems stout as a carbine but due to what the British think is a rubber recoil pad, I have felt softer rocks. I cleared ou...

That's my understanding. These were issued and used during the Malayan Emergency. They must have been imported quite a while ago, as the import mark is on the bottom of the barrel.

Yeah, my 03a3 and M1917 look just like that. Typical two groove rifling.

Re: Enfield #5's at AIM Surplus

I bought a matching 1945 BSA. It's in surprisingly good shape. Wood is dark, but in in nice condition. Black finish is mostly gone, and the metal has a nice patina to it. The bore is surprisingly good, and it flat out shoots. First three aimed shots at 50yd from the bench were touching, and dead nut...

Re: Bores are always dirty like I shot 100 rounds

Depends on the gun and ammo. My Mosins (aside from my Finn's) are always filthy, no matter how much I clean. My K31? I could fire 100 rounds of surplus through it and you'd be hard pressed to tell it had been fired since the last cleaning.

Re: Just an observation on my M44 bore

I know they fire a few rounds through them. I guess I should have been a little more specific and said that aside from the arsenal, I'm the only other person to have fired them.
