Re: 1915 .22 Lee Enfield Ammo question.
The strike marks seem soft. Someone on another board suggested the firing pin may be worn too. What do you think from the pic?

Re: 1915 .22 Lee Enfield Ammo question.
Here are some pics of the bolt head and breech. All looks to be fine. There are no dints in the breech face from the pin striking. I've shot the firing pin from the side so you can see how far it comes out. The firing pin has no marks on it. :vconfused: http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m137/spiral...

Re: 1915 .22 Lee Enfield Ammo question.
Thats interesting to know. I don't really know much about it tbh. It has 1915 on the stamp mark (very faint though). I took the bolt apart and all seems fine with it. Like I say, it strikes the base of the rounds just fine.

1915 .22 Lee Enfield Ammo question.
I have a 1915 Lee Enfield training rifle in .22. I have had a problem finding ammo for it though (don't laugh yet). The firing pin strikes home just fine, but the strike mark is just inside the rim instead of on it. The bolt is matched to the rifle so I know its not misaligned, so the only thing I c...

Re: lead core ammo
At the risk of asking a dumb question, how does the copper washed steel jacketed rounds affect barrel life when compared with copper jacketed lead rounds?

Stiff cocking
I'm aware that the MN is in general, stiff on opening the bolt, but are there any tips for lightening it. I've seen that cutting a loop from the firing pin spring helps to lighten it. Has anyone tried this?
Btw I'm not talking about sticky bolt issue here, its stiff on an empty chamber too

Re: Re barrelling Question?
Well I've always loved the Mk 4 and I was thinking if I could get one cheap that probably needs a new barrel, I'd rather it was .308 so I could get ammo, than buy a new .303 barrel.

Re barrelling Question?
How easy a job is it for a gunsmith to change the .303 on a Mk4 enfield to a .308 barrel?

Re: My first Mosin. M39
Thanks guys. I was really happy at being able to get hold of such a great rifle in such good condition. Next on the list is a Swedish mauser at some point. I'll be taking the M39 for a proper shoot on wednesday so I'll let you all know how she does

Re: My first Mosin. M39
I'm really happy to have got it. Forgot just how much kick is in a 7.62 lol! Bruised my shoulder a little, but great fun. Looking forward to doing some proper bench shooting next week to see what she can really do

My first Mosin. M39
I thought you'd like to see my very first Mosin. Well my first centerfire rifle tbh. She's in almost perfect condition. I suspect she has had very little use, possibly even un-issued? I got her from AIM last November :) http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m137/spiraluk/_THO1922.jpg http://i103.photob...

Surplus ammo question.
Hi All Fairly new to shooting so forgive any dumb questions please, especially if this is one  I took out my first rifle purchase out for a test shoot today. Its an almost imaculate M39 Finnish Mosin. Shoots straight at 50 yards although I'd forgotten what a kick a 7.62 has lol! I stopped firin...
