This one has a trigger that's smooth as silk before breaking, half the pull length of my SKS' and none of that rough grind.
It does have the refurb mark you describe from the fuzzy photo. Any ideas about the front post hood and dovetail markings?

Re: Front sight post markings
Shooting at 500 yards is coming up for me at the SLO Sportsman's club near Cuesta college off highway 1. They got a 14" gong out there with a microphone I understand that rings if you hit through the rangemaster's speakers. Here the receiver photo showing the hammer and sickle in the wreath (le...

Front sight post markings
I have a new 1936 Mosin Nagant M91/30. Bought it at Big 5 for $179.00 plus Commiefornia fees which added another $75.00. It took me the better part of a whole day to disassemble, soak it in mineral spirits to remove the cosmoline and reassemble. I took it to my local 25 yard indoor range and shot 5 ...

Re: Chinese SKS Markings (sticky)
If the long "/" on the left inside the triangle is considered a"1"' than it is "106".
Chinese type 56 "106" is pictured on the hand drawn list above. Any ideas as to origin?

Re: A real PU sniper
Not sure what you mean by imported refurb or an older issued one. How does one tell the difference?

Model 5 or model 60?
I have this Marlin .22lr which was their first "Micro grooved" barrel (I think). The barrel is stamped 'Model 5' but the booklet that came with it says Model 60. I can find no info on a model 5 by Marlin, but tons on a Model 60. Anybody heard of a model 5? :?: http://i1062.photobucket.com/...

Re: SKS Butt Pad
At 6' 3" I bought this one for just that purpose as my nose was almost against the receiver. That wood stock with its weight makes what little recoil the SK has next to nothing. It's the same problem with my M91/30 stock but there's a couple for that that fit well. Those guys sure must have had...

SKS Butt Pad
Does anyone know where I can get a butt pad for a original wood stock that actually fits an SKS stock? I put this one on which I'm sure everyone is familiar with, but it just looks lame being too small. I think it's something us SKS guys would buy if someone would market one that fits right. http://...

Re: Rescued Bubba
Thanks grease, never even shot the thing with the plastic stock and long magazine. It just felt too unbalanced and nose heavy. The wood stock is balanced and I don't find it too heavy at all. Slange Celt! I'Ve been married to a MacFarlane for 43 years and we go to every Highland games we can. I shot...

Thanks Dog, appreciate the feedback.
That plastic stock was so wobbly and unbalanced I knew it had to go.
Anybody want that wobbly goblin stock, they can have it!

Rescued Bubba
Took me two years of FUN shows, but I finally found the stock I wanted and the stock magazine. Shoots real sweet with the Murray spring FP I just installed. Added a 1936 Izhevski I just picked up today and will post pics of it when I get it cleaned up this weekend. Here's the rescue and the wobbly g...

Re: A real PU sniper
Great photos, well done! I'm new to this board and just picked up a 1936 Izhevski in excellent shape from Big 5 today. They had a "sniper" version with this same type of scope, leather covers and three posts, real clean for $599.00. Would this be considered a good deal? I gave $179.00 plus...
