Re: I Did it now!! C&R License on the Way!!

Mailed mine in a little over 3 weeks ago and received it the other day almost exactly 3 weeks from when it was mailed in.
About 2 days later a huge package of Rules, Regs and assorted Fed paperwork arrived to go with it.

Re: What is on your gun bucket list ?

My Bucket List is evolving over time but here's the current version:

M1 Garand
Lee Enfield
Mauser 98
Arisaka
M1911A1
SKS

Ultimately I would love to have a sample from each major combatant in WWII

Re: Recoil whine with a happy ending

Yeah, I love that little rifle. Glenfield Model 25. It's my first gun. It's beginning to show it's age and wear. Trigger group has been reworked and repaired a couple of times. Getting difficult to get parts for her. She may have to be retired. Thinking a 10-/22 just for punching holes. But there's ...

Re: Recoil whine with a happy ending

Completely agree about standing position. However sometimes old arthritic knees like a break. But producing old arthritic shoulders when sitting isn't any fun.

Re: Recoil whine with a happy ending

One leg on either side as opposed to parking your keister directly on it with legs on same side.
You're basically sitting sideways but when shooting your torso is twisted to the front.

Recoil whine with a happy ending

If this is second nature to you, I beg your indulgence. If this is a revelation to you, I hope it helps you. In any event, I apologize for the length of this post but I felt strongly enough to tell the story. My son came home this weekend to see his mom and to go shooting with his dad. I recently go...

Re: Mosin Nagant oil

The older I get the sloppier my writing.
you know how hard it is to write John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt at 56 and make it legible?
So now I just write my initials JJJS

Re: What was the alkaline solution in the cleaning bottles?

I use one of these flexible graduated oil funnels. Available in most auto parts stores and Wally world. The end fits the chamber really well, has a handle on it and if you don't go nuts with it, resists the boiling water temp pretty well. Hold muzzle down into a bucket and pour away. http://www.moto...

I don't do BP YET, and my want list is huge enough without adding these to it, but I am constantly amazed at the wealth of knowledge on this forum.
I learn something each morning here.
Thanks JYD and all the other experts for sharing your expertise to this noob (me) and all the other folks here.
