Man, this show "WW2 in Color" on AHC...

...is stunning. Lots of milsurp porn. Mosins very often. Tonight is on Hitler's Barbarossa offensive. No worries though, the Rooskies have it running in the right direction after halftime. I often wonder as I watch the columns of Red Army march past the camera with their rifles on their shoulder.......

Re: trigger free play

My new M91 seems to have free play with the trigger. Unlike any of my other Mosins. I guess it could almost be called slop. There is no pull with resistance prier to the hammer dropping so to speak. I noticed it right off when I took her apart. How often does one run into this? Just curious. Funny....

Re: Bolt hole through stock

They all have a cross bolt right at the rear of the finger groove. Occasionally, they'll have a second cross bolt back in the wrist area of the stock. They're not uncommon, and I think they're most often seen in laminate stocks.

Just the once after your initial de-storaging (yeah, totally made that up), then again if you ever find the need to replace the bolt (or bolt head or other parts).

Re: M44 supplier suggestions - AIM vs Classic

If they are the "excellent" ones from AIM priced out around $250, then I do think they are the recent Molots. But they periodically have shooter grade, project grade, etc. Just a few months back they had a nice batch of presumable Balkans that hadn't seen the typical soviet refurb process....

Re: refinished or not

Why not buy a replacement handguard, and keep the original in a desk? It wouldn't be "correct", but you'd have a suitable shooter that pleases your eye more and it can be put back the way it left the arsenal after refurbishment in about 30 seconds.

Re: Looking for a new stock for mosin 91-30

My mosin is a 91-30. Year 1939 made in Tula. The rifle is ok, but I want to restore it. I have bought some rifle parts unused, but I want to restore the wood too. I can't think that nobody made new stocks for the most typical mosin. This might not be the board for you. No one here can get behind wh...

Sorry...the irony is that Zeebill is asking for pictures all while providing wonderful descriptions (but NEVER any pictures) of his own rifles.

Just a little joke....

It's an antique and I know you did paperwork on it right? I would love to know how many time that happens with Mosins. I know I have done it at least a couple dozen times! Very nice and now we need a nice overall picture of it to enjoy if you would! Thanks! Bill Am I the only one that A) sees the i...

We'd need a lot more info...is it Russian? Bulgarian? Chinese type 53? By original metal finish you mean grey steel as opposed to blued?

Not weird...in fact, quite the opposite. It would be a whole lot weirder to find a 42 where every single stamped part came from the same place.
