Re: Found a place locally to buy spam cans
I intend too, all 910 rounds of it :D The other spam can is up in the attic sealed still. It's still amusing to watch the videos on youtube where people can't get the cans open, it took my exactly 1 minute 47 seconds to run the can opener around the can, yes I timed it :chuckles: Now I have a useful...

Re: Found a place locally to buy spam cans
Finally got my ammo, I ended up getting a crate just for good measure. It's Russian made in 1978 at the 188 factory. http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk284/ohm1163058/MosinFood1.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk284/ohm1163058/MosinFood2.jpg http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk284/ohm11630...

Re: Yay for bruised shoulders!
Yeah I hear you guys about conditioning, the first time I shot the rifle I got 25 rounds before I started to feel it, yesterday I shot 50. Whats crazy is when the other guy was shooting I was standing a few steps behind and you can feel the shock wave of it going off.

Re: Yay for bruised shoulders!
Lol, when I showed up they were shooting a 1911 45acp which they decided they should have ear protection on for, I just pulled out the Mosin, they finished shooting and pulled off their headphones. I touched off one round and they put them back on, this got their attention, after I finished shooting...

Yay for bruised shoulders!
Took the M44 out today and shot it, went through about 50 rounds and noticed I was working on a pretty good bruise :chuckles: So I switched over to shooting my 22. There were a couple other gentlemen out today and in exchange for letting one of them run a magazine through my Mosin, one was enough fo...

Re: Good place to get accessories
As I said I ended up ordering an accessory kit on Ebay which came today, looks brand spankin new. I installed the sling on the rifle and it looks much better, like a proper riffle, steel, wood, canvas and leather. I also got 10 stripper clips so I filled up 6 of them and stuffed them into the ammo p...

Re: Stripper Clips
I ordered 10 repop ones on ebay and they came today, the couple that I tried seem to work fine in my Romanian M44, the edges are a little rough though so I might touch them up with sand paper.

Re: Good place to get accessories
I ended up on good old epay and got an accessory set from one seller for $23 shipped which has an ammo pouch, tool kit and sling. I also ordered form another seller 10 stripper clips for $9.40. Also today I picked up a soft rifle case for transportation purposes and a 50 cal. ammo can for when I pic...

Good place to get accessories
My M44 didn't come with any accessories, not even a cleaning rod. I was looking at Amazon and there seems to be a few good deals there, I am mainly just looking for a sling and cleaning rod but there was also a deal on 10 stripper clips and butt pad for $13. Are there any other places that I should ...

Re: Found a place locally to buy spam cans
My thing is that I don't really want a big ol box of Ammo to show up at the door when I'm at work, that might cause questions like "What is this for?" from the person who doesn't know I have said Mosin

Re: Found a place locally to buy spam cans

Found a place locally to buy spam cans
I found out there is a local ammo distributor that sells spam cans of Russian 7.62x54r for about $99, so next week when they are open I am going to run by and pick one up, they can be had cheaper online but once you pay shipping its still more. The other cool thing is the place is run by local vets....

Is MFS 7.62x54R ammo reloadable?
Just wondering, I bought about 5 boxes of the stuff since it was on sale so I will have 100 empty cases. If so I might pick up one of the Lee reloading kits ect and start reloading them to save a little money.

Re: My "new" M44
I went to the range today, managed to forget earplugs which was a big mistake, and put 300 rounds of ammo through my 22's, I was getting rid of some shitty Remington ammo. I also put 25 rounds through the Mosin, the first two magazines were consistently high so I adjusted the rear sight one click up...

Re: My "new" M44
Yeah, that voice is screaming in my ear, since its not rusted or anything I am just going to keep rubbing the metal parts with an oily rag to keep them from rusting. I don't think it looks like crud at all. I also noticed the numbers on the butt plate don't match, even less of an issue. I would like...

My "new" M44
Picked up a 1955 M44 for $125 today, I think I did okay, from a pawn shop. It is obviously a Romanian made rifle and it has been used. The stock has quite a few soft dents in it and the bluing is worn off on the butt plate and wear areas but there is no rust. One thing that I should have noticed is ...
