How much is enough. . .

Hey Mosin Enthusiests. I am finally done with my move and am finally getting time to clean up some of the milsurps I purchased a while ago. I am currently working on a 1955 Romanian M44. Overall it is very clean and in good shape but the bore was a dull black mess. I have been alternating between so...

Re: Great source of Mosin Nagant Information

I too am a fan of the new "Mosin Museum" and Big Sam. I have been watching his channel for the last several years and he has recently renamed it the "Mosin Museum". Some videos are a bit long but he covers more of the historical aspect of the different Mosin Nagant variants and n...

Well, I have to say that the memeber that sold me mine gave me a great deal. I Can't remember his name, Larry something, I think but he sold me the complete set for $35 bucks. Thanks for not gouging me Larry. Stand up guy!

Re: Jaw dropping pricing

If anyone is thinking of thinning the collection you may want to do it before this new "Bipartisian Safe families" gun control bill passes. Looks like anyone privately selling guns for "profit" will need to be classified as an FFL unless you plan to sell the entire collection. Co...

Re: Where can I find disk-style 7.62x54R headspace gauges like Okie or Firewerks?

I was looking for a set a few months ago and looked everywhere for them with no luck. I posted a post in the Wanted section of the board and got a set from a fellow board member that was no longer using them. I would post there and see if there is anyone else that no longer needs their old set as I ...

Do you zero your rifles with or without the Bayonets?

So I'm just curious as to how you all zero your rifles? We all know that the Mosin Nagant was zeroed from originally with the bayonet affixed but for my shooting I would prefer to have it zeroed without? How do you guys do it?

Wow, good catch SA1911. That is very interesting about why the mag place is matching the barrel and butt plate but lined out. Hmmmmm. . .

Re: Type 53 Value?

To expand on 1911's response, value is a very subjective term. When it comes to collectables, cars, guns, anything really, I have heard so many times, . . . man, thats not worth X, Y, Z, but the bottom line is the value of something is what someone is willing to pay. Consider what you want to buy th...

Re: Mosins going sky high in price

Makes me feel better and better about my woodshop cache I got from a freinds fathers estate. I managed to pick up 10 mostly complete 91/30's for $600. Some are missing a few things, a few front sights, a few trigger springs or mag latch spring thingys, you get the idea. Once I get moved going throug...

Re: M28-30, refurb characteristics

@ Rurallife - I hear you brother. I just bought several guns from an estate and was looking at a Romanian M44 and thinking to myself, "OK, whats the deal? Is this a reproduction? It's too nice." I'm new to the game of the Mosin Nagant and am constantly second guessing myself. In the end, i...

Re: 1938 Tula with wire hangers

Thanks for the info. The historical aspect of these rifles is fascinating. Any idea why the crest would be so worn away and not the reast of the marks on the barrel shank. The tip of the Tula star looks more worn to closer you get to the front of the barrel.

Awesome stuff. Thanks SSG-Lord.

Re: 1938 Tula with wire hangers

I was thinking that is what that stamp was too, where the crest would normally be. The picture is a little blurry but the strike is also very light and it looks like it was struck and then again. If the Romanians got it after the Soviet refurishment they must have used the heck out of it (or whoever...

Re: 1938 Tula with wire hangers

No, I have absolutely no assumptions. The rifle is 1938 and the stock is post-war so obviously not original. Just wondering if the very wise people here on the forum can possibly shead some light as to who/where the hangers were placed there or if there is anything else the rifle has to tell.
