311 123 gr copper jacket steel core reloading bullets.
I put a question on the reloading section too. More readers here!
I would be reloading these for my Mosins.
Yes or no and why?
Thanks.

Yes. I have checked the firing pin with the tool that comes with every mosin.
I have fired both of these type of ammo through my other mosins without any issues.

I have checked both. They are good. (It barely passes the NO GO gauge but definitely passes the FIELD gauge)
The firing pin spring was not touched.....

Miss fires on my 1928 M91/30
Fired Milsurp and SELLIER and BELLOT (new ammo) today. Had a couple of missfirings with both. It fired every time the second attempt.
Is there such thing as a week firing spring or could there be another issue?
Thanks.

Re: Confused with my 1928 M91/30
Thanks for the detailed explanation.
So I guess it is one of the few of the 1928 rifles that got the upgrade....
I will post some photos so there is no confusion!

Reloading for the Mosin Nagant
Did a little load development today for the first time with LAPUA brass, 180 gr soft points, Fed 210 primers and Varget. Went quite well and learned it definitely makes a difference on where you positioned your front bag. Just wondering with the twist of the Mosin, what make and weight of bullets do...

Re: Confused with my 1928 M91/30
Yes. Sorry that was a stupid statement. So I ask again. All my info says the first year the M91/30 is listed, is 1929. My rifle is 1928 but the importer put a stamp M91/30 on it? Barring its collector value of nil, let’s say it was worth $350 today if it had not been drilled and tapped, what is it w...

Re: Confused with my 1928 M91/30
So doing a bit of work and firing this rifle today.
As stated it is not stamped M91/30 by the Russians but is by the importer.
So technically what model is this? Also previous owner drilled and taped the action. Has it lost its value now?

Is 0000 steel wool too abrasive?
Got a really small amount of black surface discoloration on a bolt.
Is there something better to get it off?
Thanks

Re: Couple of questions...
Thanks for all the helpful ideas. No lacquered ammo but I will try the boiling water and carb cleaner. I’ll get a 20 gauge shot gun brush too. The aluminum foil is a great idea, like a washer! Easy kitchen fix! But a special thanks to millman for the most helpful post of all....I will really try not...

Couple of questions...
Been asked many times before I guess. Was shooting my M44 and M91/30 today. After about 20 rounds shooting the M44, the bolt was getting difficult to extract the fired round? On my M91/30 the small upper wooden hand guard is sliding forward after shooting. The barrel bands seem to be tight. Any fixe...

Rifle with no bolt....
Thinking of buying a Mosin with no bolt. Bad idea?
If I do and buy a complete bolt from a parts store, how will I know before I receive it if the head space is correct?
I do own a NO GO and a FIELD gauge....
Thanks

Re: Go no go gauges
So I received the 2 gauges.
Of the 4 rifles I bought, all passed the FIELD GAUGE, one barely passed the NO GO GAUGE. The bolt barely did not close.
I actually had shot this rifle before I got the gauges and everything seemed normal.
